Ever since the start of the new year, I have been working hard towards achieving financial freedom here. Tonight I have decided to take nites off and chance upon 林俊杰100天Love音乐实录, once again his songs inspire and touch me. Don’t be afraid to do what you love and love who you like.

It has been quite a while since I last post and here I present another of my favourite drama songs which is based off a TVB HK drama about ups and downs of a CID policeman. This is another example where at first listening, one would pass it off as a typical song which sounds nice and nothing more. After watching the drama and relating it to the lyrics and tune of the song, this song is meaningful and touching to the theme of the drama itself. Recommended for all music and TVB fans out there, enjoy!

Yes, Eric Kwok and 黃偉文 are quite famous in the canto pop scene and this particular song is sung by a up and rising young star 謝安琪. The melody is soothing, lyrics is meaningful and the overall music is really worth listening again and again, 謝安琪 seems to bring out the classical side of the song well.

How to get started in songwriting? (Part 1 – Overview)

Many people have asked me this question and 1 direct answer is to start writing! Songwriting is just like other art expressions like drawing and dancing. Though some creativity or even inspiration is there, anyone with the passion and is willing to do it can do it. Of course like any other skill, one has to learn the basics and constantly improve yourself in order to be proficient.

For myself, songwriting can come in 2 forms, either by inspiration or by demand. To start off, I will provide 3 easy steps for beginners to get started

1. Get inspired from things around u or just come up with a tune u like
2. Quickly grab your nearest recording device like handphone or portable recorder etc
3. Sing the tune in ‘la la la’ and then record it as a whole

There u have it, your 1st song!

Have been listening to Coldplay’s latest album ‘VIVA LA VIDA’ and I must say their music has one of the best mixes of vocal & arrangements. Being a avid music fan myself, I have listened to many british and US bands around and that only a handful of them can match the great combination of vocal prowess, charisma and synergy of Coldplay. They always seem to come out with new things or ways to surprise their fans and getting richer in their music.
